Tyldesley travelled away in the first round Lancashire Trophy and came away emptied handed against big spending Rossendale.
Tyldesley’s had problems prior to kick off with new signing Chris Bibby picking up a hamstring injury in warm up which meant a re-shuffling of the back row with Shaun Pulman coming off the bench.

After a summer of perpetual rain it was perhaps inevitable that the first game of the league season brought warm sunshine, enough to test the fitness levels of both teams on the perfect playing surface of St Georges Park.
Tyldesley made two changes from the Lancashire Trophy game against Rossendale, Chris Bibby returning at no.6 with Shaun Pulman dropping to the bench and Gary Corbett returning to the wing in place of the injured Nick Reddrop.

Tyldesley made the long trip to Wigton having to make five enforced changes from the side that beat Workington last week. After winning their first two games of the new season Tyldesley went head to head with one of the other two unbeaten teams in the North Lancs and Cumbria Division and came down to earth with an almighty bump when they were beaten all ends up by a very well drilled and extremely competent Vale side at St Georges Park on Saturday.
Tyldesley welcomed back John Fisher into the centre, with Mark Dickinson moving to full back, Colin Ruane-Cooper took the loose head prop shirt at the expense of the unfortunate Damien Twizell who dropped to the bench, Tom Cartwright replaced the injured Craig Pulman at lock and Shaun Pulman and Ian Roberts returned to first XV action from the bench.

I have never had the opportunity to visit Upper Eden, but people who have been there previously assured me that it was one of the most picturesque settings for a sporting contest that you could imagine.
Maybe horizontal rain is their idea of heaven, but not mine. Perhaps the rolling hills of the Eden Valley on a clear day are a sight to behold but when you are drenched to the bone the beauty of mother nature is somewhat flawed. The last three weeks we had been fortunate enough to be playing in warm autumnal sunshine, this week January came three months early...........

Tyldesley welcomed the previously unbeaten Kirkby Lonsdale to St Georges Park on Saturday and produced a great display to take the spoils and inflict the visitors first defeat of the season.
Tyldesley welcomed back Johnny Bishop to the back row which meant that Shaun Pulman was unfortunate to be dropped to the bench. Craig Pulman replaced the injured Tom Cartwright in the second row and Colin Cooper made way for Travis Twizell in the front row. In the backs Lee Cunliffe returned at scrum half with Mark Dickinson moving to 12 and Gaz Paine moving to the wing to replace the injured Ian Roberts.

Tyldesley took on Bury in round 2 of the EDF Senior Vase and turned in an emphatic performance, scoring 16 tries in the process.
Although there were no changes in the pack from last weeks excellent victory, there were however some changes in the back line. Paul Martin deputised for Lee Cunliffe at scrum half due to the latters participation in a stag weekend of debauchery in the city of seed that is Hamburg. Matt Ashe returned from injury at fullback with Bill Elliot and Wayne Bretherton completing the substitutes bench.

What a difference a week makes. Last week the trip to Keswick was brought to a soggy end at 2 o'clock ankle deep in water, but this week the crisp autumn sunshine and the immaculate playing surface was custom made for an open and attractive game of rugby and, for the most part, Tyldesley did not disappoint.
From the team selected for the previous weeks game at Keswick and with John Fisher unavailable, Nick Reddrop moved to the centre and was replaced on the wing by Gary Corbett, Matt Ashe moved to full back at the expense of James Robinson who dropped to the bench. With the return of Travis Twizell to the front row Wayne Bretherton dropped to the bench and Chris Bibby returned to no. 6, Shaun Pulman returned to the bench to complete the line up.
