A Brief History of Tyldesley Rugby Union Football Club:
- 1881 Club formed after meeting of local businessmen and rugby players from other Clubs decide to move from Garrett Hall to Tyldesley and become Tyldesley Football Club.
- 1887 Future England International Half-back John "Buff" Berry joins from Kendal Hornets
- 1895 Tyldesley beat Widnes at Warrington to win the Lancashire Cup in front of 15,000 spectators
- 1895 Tyldesley are one of the founder Clubs of the Northern Union (Later to become Rugby League!!)
- 1911 Tyldesley successfully re-apply to the RFU after cost prove to much a burden in the "Professional" game
- 1926 Landowner and Club President (Mr. William Hesketh Ramsden) gives the Well Street ground in trust to the Club
- 1927-28 Centre Guy Wilson plays for England and goes on the British Argentine Tour.
- 1939-45 Seven Club Members killed during WW II.
- 1950's Over Seventeen players turn professional, including two pairs of half-backs in the same season !
- 1959-60 Both the First XV (1053) and the Second XV (1089) score 1000 points in a season
- 1965-66 A young Brian Ashton plays for Tyldesley prior to a first class career with Orrell, Fylde & England
- 1981 Tyldesley lose 20-18 to Anti-Assassins for the Club centenary celebrations.
- 1985 Founder Members of the pilot national league system the GIROBANK LEAGUE
- 1991 The First XV make it to the National Cup Quarter-Finals.
- 1992 The Second XV score 1109 points to set a new Club points record
- 1995 The Third XV score 1123 points to set a new Club points record
- 1996 Club internet Web Site launched
- 1998 Talks begin over possible re-location to a new ground on Astley Street
- 1999 Tyldesley beat Leigh 28-27 to win the Sean Grainey Memorial Cup for the first time
- 2001 Tyldesley beat Vickers in a Promotion Playoff in June !! Scoring 1049 points during the season in the process.
- 2001 Tyldesley beat Leigh to retake the Sean Graney Memorial Cup in a 19-11 victory
- 2001 New Ground at St.George's Park is opened by Lancashire County RFU President Bill Chappell on 17th November with Oldham the first visitors.
- 2003/04 Tyldesley beat Leigh in Promotion playoff and are promoted to North 2 West (Level 6)
- 2007/08 Tyldesley relegated back to Level 7 after worst league season on record.
- 2008 Club appoints former Player Dave Peet as Head Coach with ex-Coach Kev Williams returning to coach the Forwards.
- 2008/09 1st XV Champions of North Lancashire & Cumbria promoted to Level 6 (North 1W)
- 2008/09 1st XV lose 8-7 to Cullompton (Devon) in the Senior Vase Final at Twickenham
- 2008/09 2nd XV finish as Runners Up in Miller Homes League Division 3 and are promoted.
- 2008/09 3rd XV promted from Miller Homes League Division 5 to Division 4.
- 2008/09 Club Award Lancashire Club of the Year at County Awards Dinner.
